Hudson is located in the Hudson River Valley in between the Catskills and the Berkshires. Albany is the closest airport, but there are more transportation options from NYC.
Driving from NYC takes between 2-3 hours, depending on how long it takes to get out of the city. To avoid rush hour traffic, it's best to depart in the morning or early afternoon.
The Amtrak train is perfect for those without a car, as there is a station just up the street from Basilica Hudson and within easy walking distance of the main commercial district in town.
